Clean clothes smell terrible?
Anytime we wash clothes or other items using a laundry detergent without fragrance the laundry smells terrible afterwards. We have 2 machines, one top load, one front load, and it happens with both. I'd describe the smell as a "dog rolled in sewer water".
The clothes that smelled were cured with a re-wash in scented detergent. I have a sheepskin pad that I can only wash with very mild soap and I'm trying get the stink out without stripping the oils out of the sheepskin. Would also like to understand why this is happening in the first place. Any ideas? Thanks!
Do you leave your clothes sit in the washer for hours before putting them in the dryer? If so it could be a mildew smell; try to put your clothes in the dryer immediately after the wash cycle, if that is what your problem is. If not, do what the other answerer's said and put white or apple cider vinegar in your rinse cycles, that works too.
